Wilsonville Garage Sale, October 1-2

New Life Church acquired the assets of a now-defunct school in Wilsonville and will be selling those assets at a huge garage sale on Friday evening October 1st from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m and on Saturday, October 2nd from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. The items for sale include desks, chairs, shelves, bookcases, library books, school curriculum, computers, office supplies, tables, filing cabinets, children's chairs. whiteboards, chalkboards, projector screens, overhead projectors, TVs, stereos, learning programs, science lab supplies, kid's sports equipment, music stands, toys, small appliances, and much more. The sale will take place at the future home of New Life Church Wilsonville, 27960 S.W. Canyon Creek Road, Wilsonville, OR 97070. Come and check out the sale and be sure to tell a friend about it, too!

Prayer Focus for the week of Sept. 12th

New Life Church has a prayer focus each week. Our prayer focus is broken down into three categories of ministry: 1. We pray for another local church that is proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. 2. We pray for a Global Outreach Partner who is proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. 3. We pray for a ministry of New Life Church that is proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ locally.

Area Church: Gladstone First Baptist Church – Gladstone, OR, Pastor Brian Early

• Pray that the fall kickoff and ministry fair, September 19, will rally the congregation of Gladstone First Baptist Church and get new people plugged in.
• Pray that ministries starting back up this fall will be fruitful: Awana; youth; children’s ministry; preschool.
• Pray that the young adult ministries will continue to solidify.
• Pray that the college group will be led to a more specific vision.

Global Outreach Partner: Brian and Lavonne Buhler – South Asia

• Pray for the provision of qualified employees to keep things running smoothly and help expand the business.
• Pray for the replenishment of our work funds depleted by extra travel.
• Pray for the growth and success of our business.
• Pray for the kids education and LaVonne's homeschooling with Emily.

NLC Ministry: Celebrate Recovery

• Pray that our Lord will continue to raise up and strengthen the leadership during Mike Polley's absence.
• Pray that He would continue to maintain unity of purpose in carrying out His work in reaching current and future members of Celebrate Recovery.
• Pray that they would all come to know Him and grow in their relationship with Jesus our Lord. 

Volunteers Needed on September 9th for Garage Sale Prep

A huge garage sale is planned for October 1st and 2nd at the future home of New Life Church Wilsonville but we need many workers to help prepare for it. A work night is planned for Thursday, September 9th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at 27960 S.W. Canyon Creek Road in Wilsonville. Workers are needed to move and organize items acquired from a school that previously leased space from the church. These items will now be sold at the garage sale and include desks, chairs, file cabinets, books, curriculum, shelves, cabinets, office supplies and more. Lots of help is needed. If you plan to come and have access to a hand truck, please bring that with you.

New Life Church Outdoor Baptism 2010

We had a great Sunday at Haugen's last week. In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus says to "make disciples, baptizing them..." On August 29th, seven people followed Jesus in baptism, four of them from the Robinwood congregation!

You can see more pictures here of the whole afternoon and of Angela Burns, Leslie Gertner, Maddie Salo, Miles Nelson, Maddie Lausche, Dustin Hannifan, and Sandra Roberts as they gave their testimonies and got all wet!

A couple unique things about this baptism: Four people were involved doing the baptizing. Pastor Nathan, me, Mark Hannifan baptized Dustin and Sandra's Son, Jeffrey who works for the Luis Palau association baptized her. This was also the first time we've used the pool at the Haugens. It was very nice to have a second venue. Thank you, Scott and Gay!

Area Church: Estacada First Baptist Church: Estacada, OR, Pastor Brent Dodrill

• Pray for the purchase of a building down the street from the Estacada First Baptist Church building. The plan is for the youth of Estacada First Baptist to use the building on Wed nights, another Hispanic church to use it on Sunday morning, and the local Pregnancy resource Center to use it during the week.
• Pray that the people of Estacada First Baptist will fully catch the vision of how this building can be a blessing to so many and how they can participate in that financially.
• Pray for a spirit of cooperation and unity with all in involved.
• Pray that for continued work in South Asia as the church plans for a mission trip next spring.

Global Outreach Partner: Rick and Mary Beth Holladay: Campus Crusade for Christ, Deutschland

• Praise the Lord for 25 years of marriage.
• Praise the Lord for a month of visiting in the states, particularly for a family reunion and the celebration of Mary Beth's mother's 80th Birthday.
• Pray that the ministry of the arts will communicate God's love and inspire worship of our creator.
• Pray that this ministry in southeast Germany will provide encouragement and guidance to artists.

NLC Ministry: Treasure Land Children's Ministry

• Praise God for the growing number of children in Treasure Land.
• Praise Him because children are learning their books of the Bible and praising God!
• Praise Him that there are committed, godly teachers and assistant teachers who love these children and desire for them to know their Savior!
• Pray for more people to serve children through Treasure Land.
• Pray that the Holy Spirit will do His work in the lives of children and families impacted by the Treasure Land ministry. That they will learn what worship is all about and know WHO is the object of our worship; to learn about Him through His Word, to learn how to use His Word, to come to love His Word, and to become kids who treasure God!
• Pray that the teachers/teaching assistants would also experience growth in their personal relationship with God.
• Praise the Lord for the parents of these children who want their children to know the gospel and the awesome God who loves and saves.

Apologetics Academy Open to Students

To Contend for the Faith Apologetics Academy will introduce students to numerous topics of Christian apologetics, teach them how to formulate effective and convincing responses to pervading worldviews, and solidify their understanding of essential Christian doctrines. Gaylen Miller and his daughter, Lauren, are thrilled to provide this opportunity for students to discover how to engage our culture in an effective and cogent manner. During this thirty-six week middle school/high school class, students will be trained in responses to the objections of atheists, study evidence for the existence of God, learn to how to articulate the gospel message, establish the doctrinal essentials of Christianity, and affirm the Bible’s reliability. Through interactive class lectures, students will also learn the doctrinal teachings and perspectives of Islam, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witness, Secular Humanism, Cosmic Humanism, and Post-modernism. The Class will be held at New Life Church Riverfalls in West Linn on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-9:00 p.n. Cost is $90 per student for the year (to cover facility and curriculum costs).
