Cadence Dessert Saturday @7:00 PM

Paul and Beryl Metko will be at New Life Church this weekend as a part of Global Outreach Weekend. On Saturday night at 7:00 PM at New Life Robinwood, they will be sharing about their ministry with Cadence (a ministry to Military Personnel all over the world). The Metkos oversee all of the Cadence Missionaries on the West Coast. Cadence operates several hospitality houses in close proximity to military bases. These houses are used as a "home away from home" for military personnel. The missionaries seek to build a family atmosphere where solderiers can become fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ.

This summer, New Life Church is planning a mission trip (June 24-July 6) to help out at one of these hospitality houses in Eagle River, Alaska. The missionaries there are Dan and Barb Evans. They, along with their two children Caleb & Audrey, have operated the Mountain Chapel Hospitality House for the last year or so. Already they have built some great relationships and seen many soldiers grow in their relationships with Jesus Christ.

On Saturday night Paul and Beryl will share about the ministry at Mountain Chapel along with an overview of Cadence work around the world. If you have any desire to be a part of this mission trip to minister to military personnel through construction and a ministry retreat, this would be a great time to find out more information.

Below I have posted a few slides which speak of the Evans vision for Mountain Chapel:

You Can Help Victims of the Italian Earthquake

Below is a letter from Dan Simmons that suggests an avenue to give and some specific prayer requests for victims of the Italian Earthquake:

I have just finished talking on the phone with Jo Hunziker. He is the director of the camping ministry up in the mountains east of Rome and is coordinating relief efforts among many of the evangelical believers in the Aquila area that was hit by the big earthquake April 6. Jo told me that all of the believers have suffered structural damage to their homes. Three of the families have had their homes completely destroyed. Figures for total estimated damage and repair costs will need to await the final reports of engineers. Jo affirmed that careful records will be kept on funds received and all funds will be given to the families effected.

Last night the families expressed how difficult it was to brave the cold, freezing rain, wind, and live together in a huge tent. The government is supplying food for all those in need. Jo expressed they needed products for good hygiene. (diapers, shampoo, tissue, soap)

There is a request for spiritual guidance, encouragement and for those who will come to listen to the dramatic stories of the survivors. The continuing tremors keep reminding the people of the horrible experience. A list of guests must be made days prior to the visit, be accepted by authorities and put on the approved guest list. Only a certain number of guests are allowed into the area each day. This week Alice and I, along with Michele and Anna Gandolfo will make a trip to the "tendopli" (tent area housing the residents). I would ask you to specifically pray we would sensitive to each person!

For those of you who want to participate financially with the great needs among the earthquake survivors of Aquila, WorldVenture has approved a special project. World Venture does not take a percentage of your donation for administrative costs for this special project.

When you send your donation to WorldVenture please indicate on a separate sheet of paper "for 6411-904 ITALY-L'AQUILA EARTHQUAKE". Do not write this on your check. On line giving may be through worldventure.com.

Having a Quiet Time

Every heard the term "Quiet Time"? Do you know what a Quiet Time is? Tim Keller describes it this way, "a time of direct contact between your mind and God's using the Bible and prayer." Is this kind of time a regular part of your life? Would you like it to be? Ignite Youth Ministries has been using a resource for almost a year now that has proved very helpful in guiding high school students and adults in daily devotions, and we want to offer it to you! It's called a Quiet Time Booklet.

Click on the link above to access a printable PDF version. You will need to print it doubles-sided, so a printer with duplex capabilities is really handy. Once printed you will want to add a piece of cardstock for a cover, so decorate it however you'd like! Then you can either cut it in half and bind the pages, or fold and staple them. Enjoy meeting with the God of the universe who did not spare His own Son to establish a relationship with you!

Well Done!
