A baby dedication is more a parent dedication than anything. This ceremony itself makes no spiritual difference in the life of the child, but parents committed to Christ do make a difference.
The Bible records two such ceremonies. When Hannah in the Old Testament had prayed for a child and God answered she took Samuel to the temple to dedicate him to God. When Jesus was young Mary & Joseph publicly dedicated him to God. Each of those events are similar their intent to 'baby dedications' we do as New Life Church.
We will often do baby dedications on Sanctity of Human Life Sunday as a way to highlight and celebrate the value of human life. And more than that, to celebrate the promise of a life lived for Jesus.
