American Baptists Face a Crisis

The American Baptists are first cousins. The Baptists in America split into Northern and Southern over slavery during the time of the Civil War. The Conservative Baptists split from the Northern Baptist Convention in 1943 over doctrinal issues. The Northern Baptist Convention became the American Baptist Denomination in 1950. The are still struggling with some of the fruit of their own doctrinal choices as this link indicates.
