Next Steps for Wilsonville Swap & Play

We are getting very close to launching our Swap & Play ministry in Wilsonville on January 29th! Thank you so much to all the volunteers who have donated swap items or spent time fixing up the space. It is looking great!

The next thing on our to-do list is to schedule some events for Swap & Play members to get to know each other while doing something fun together. There are several different ways to participate in hosting an event. You can commit to do something just one time or on an ongoing basis (weekly, monthly, etc). You can plan and host an event by yourself, as a family, as a life group, or with some friends. You are not responsible for babysitting the children who attend, just for offering a fun, safe experience! Examples of the types of events we are looking for are:

  • Toddler music time (sing songs, play instruments)
  • Tutoring
  • Cooking class
  • Sewing class
  • Painting – pictures, ornaments, picture frame
  • Clay projects – make figurines, bowls, etc.
  • Make paper dolls/corn husk dolls
  • Make your own book night
  • Make sock puppets/put on a puppet show
  • Talent show
  • Make balloon animals or origami craft
  • Cookie decorating or gingerbread houses
  • Woodworking – build a simple project (e.g. bird house, picure frame, shelf)
  • Science night – do some science experiments together
  • Game night
  • Movie night
  • Recycled goods art night
  • Family portrait day (are you good at taking picures?)
  • Parents night out (this would require babysitting and thus being child safety-trained)
  • Garage sale swap/recycling day (for the whole community)
  • Card-making party
  • Kite-making/flying day
  • Kickball night

If you are able to commit to putting on an event or have questions about it, please email swapandplay@gmail.com, or call Theresa at (503) 984-4791 or Miranda at (541) 231-5098.
