Follow-up from All-Church Meeting.

We had a great turnout on Sunday night for our all-church meeting and strawberry feast. In fact, the social team had to go get more supplies!

The key items in the meeting were as follows:

  • New Members: Terry Montgomery, Keith Richardson, Rudy & Audette Ventura, and John & Sheila Gardner were introduced as new members. Welcome and congratulations!
  • A Financial Summary: Given the effect the economy is having on so many individuals and on other churches, New Life Church is remarkably stable. We have spent about $2,000 more than we've taken in year to date. That is less than 1% difference between income and expenses!
  • Remodel Updates: We are still about $10,000 underfunded for the Riverfalls building remodel and about $15,000 still to go for the Robinwood upgrades. Thanks for remembering these improvements with your gifts.
  • Oregon City Update: The church is doing well. They took over 80 people into membership and baptized 3 on May 31st. They love Aaron and Amanda. Our church will decide in August whether to extend an invitation them to become a part of New Life Church. They will, then, respond to the invitation in October. Please pray for this process.
  • An introduction to a Wilsonville opportunity: A church in Wilsonville, Canyon Creek Church, will be closing at the end of this month. We've been talking to their pastor about becoming part of New Life Church, about their people joining us in West Linn and about us incubating a church plant that would go back to Wilsonville in the next couple years. He will preach at Riverfalls on July 5th and at Robinwood on July 19th. This would be a great thing to add to your prayers, too. Thank you.
If you have questions or thoughts about this, please leave a comment. Thanks.

3rd Annual National Night Out

New Life Church hosted the 3rd Annual National Night Out Party for the Robinwood neighborhood of West Linn this past Tuesday night.

About 100 people showed up to enjoy good food, good music, and lots of good conversation.
A crew came by from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue.
They put on quite a show for the kids. The kids also enjoyed a bounce house and other fun games.
One of the highlights of the evening was the appearance of the Rick Sollers Memorial Chuck Wagon that was used to cook up all of the tasty burgers and hot dogs.

The night was mostly about New Life Church showing the love of Jesus to our neighbors. We had several good conversations with neighbors and invited many of them to come back for our Outdoor Service and Picnic on August 17th.

Ladies Event A Smash Hit!

8390634...my ticket's number was called and I ran to the jewelry table with a yip of excitement, my first opportunity to capture that dazzling bracelet calling my name! The Ladies Accessory Exchange was such a huge success Friday evening we just couldn't be bothered to stop and snap photos--maybe next time! Laughter, excitement, chocolate covered strawberries, door prizes and hilarious games: just a small "snapshot" of the fun of the evening. A special thanks to Kim Brandstetter and Lori Elliott, whose masterful planning transformed the lobby of the Riverfalls Campus into a Parisian froufrou cafe/boutique for one evening only. Thank you also to all the fabulous ladies who attended. Stay tuned for a follow-up event, coming SOON!

New Life Service at the Fair

Well, we didn't get rained out - Praise God for holding off the rain! The day ended up being the nicest day of the weekend! Thanks for everyone who came, who helped, who worshipped our Savior together. What a good time!

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
(Mark 12:30-31 ESV)

Double Blessing!

Bob BinswangerPastor NathanThe past three weeks I have enjoyed one of the blessings of being a multi-site church. I have gone to Robinwood for one service then to Riverfalls for the next. My soul has been doubly fed and doubly blessed. What does God have for me this morning?Pastor Tim leading worship

I thank the Lord for His great provision for our church of faithful and able preachers, worship leaders, encouragers and servants. I have been doubly blessed and so has New Life church!

No Signs Beyond This Point

When I think about starting our second location, I feel like there are no signs beyond this point. I don't know what it will be like. There were no road signs for Lewis and Clark either. But I'm glad they took their trip.

I am very excited about seeing us trust God instead of trusting well-worn traffic signs about how to do church. A church full of faith is so much more energetic and exciting and terrifying!

This is a picture of an actual sign I took on my father-in-law's ranch. You don't get pictures like this going to Disneyland!

News article about an international multi-site church

One of the things that attracts me about multi-site ministry is that it is inventive, adaptable, and expandable. Here is a news article about a multi-site church adding their first international site.

Warren Bird interviews Pastor Scott

Warren Bird from Leadership Network, co-author of The Coming Multi-Site Revolution, spent the evening with me on Monday and interviewed me about what we are doing at New Life Church.

I had also previewed his book and gave him feedback on it. They are planning on it being printed next April. That will be the first book ever on multi-site churches and we may be in it!

He has offered me access to any information they have on multi-site churches. And, they know more about it than anyone. So if you'd like to know more about multi-site church I have some new friends who may have it figured out!
